In this guide we’ll use Dreamdata Analytics Hub to create a dashboard. A dashboard is a customizable page that combines widgets from different reports into a single view. Dashboards are ideal for creating executive KPI summaries, team-specific views, or for addressing any scenario where you want to see data from multiple reports or multiple widgets with different metrics a glance. Introduction

We’ll build our dashboard with a combination of widgets from reports and text widgets. This will be most useful if you have at least one report, so if you haven’t set up any reports yet, start with Setting up your first report.

Our goal in this walkthrough will be to take widgets from one of our reports, select different metrics from each of them, and place them all on the same dashboard to get an overview of ad Campaign Performance.

Step-by-step guide

  1. Access Analytics Hub home. Look for the Analytics Hub icon in the left-hand navigation:

  2. Click the Create button in the upper right hand corner and select Dashboard.

  3. In the upper left corner of the screen where it says Untitled Dashboard, give your dashboard a name by clicking that placeholder text and replacing it with your own at the top (e.g. "CMO Dashboard"). You can also can add a description by clicking the Add a description… and replacing it with your own text.

  4. We’ll add our first widgets from the report we created in Setting up your first report. Since this is a new dashboard, there will be an Add Widget button in the middle of the screen. Click on it and select Report Widget.

  5. The Add widgets from Reports side panel will open**.** Using this side panel you can search through any of your existing reports and add any of the widgets (metrics, charts, or tables) that exist in those reports. We’ll click Add on:

  6. The widgets are added to the dashboard immediately. This should result in a dashboard that looks like this:

  7. You may notice that the charts we added only deal with Cost, but our report contained multiple metrics, such as Visitors. Let’s add charts for one of the other metrics by duplicating the existing charts and adding them. Mouse over the upper right corner of the Cost Source By Cost Over Time chart three-dot menu (⋮) in the upper right hand corner of the table.

  8. Click Duplicate and scroll down to the bottom of the dashboard. A copy of the chart appears (it has the wording (copy) in the title). First, let’s change the metric in by clicking the metric dropdown and changing from Cost to Visitors. Then let’s rename the chart by clicking the three-dot menu (⋮) and clicking Rename.

  9. We’ll repeat the process for the Cost Source by Cost horizontal bar chart so we have a similar horizontal bar chart for Visitors.

  10. One issue with our dashboard is that it’s impossible to see all the charts at once. Let’s rearrange the charts by mousing over the upper left corner of the charts we want to move and grabbing them with the mouse. This will allow us to drag the charts for Cost and the charts for Visitors side by side.

  11. Let’s add one more widget to the dashboard to provide context. Hover over the space between our charts to reveal a blue line with a + icon that lets us add widgets directly where we want them. Select Text Widget. Then add a widget that says Visitor data — this serves as a visual section heading that describes which data you’ll see below.

  12. Finally we’ll save the dashboard by navigating to the upper right hand corner of the screen and clicking Save Dashboard and clicking Save (or Update if the dashboard had previously been saved).

  1. Congratulations! If you followed the instructions above, you’ve created your first Analytics Hub dashboard. As a recap:

    1. We named the dashboard
    2. added the widgets from the reports we cared about…
    3. added text widgets to provide context to the data…
    4. changed the display to our liking…
    5. and grouped the data in a way that made the analysis meaningful for our audience…
